Prologue
In the beginning, there was nothing but the cold darkness, then from the sky descending the six guardians. The King of Sky, the Queen of Ocean, the Mistress of Forest, the Master of Fire, the Sir of Storms and the Madame of Ice took their respective places in the darkness, bringing light and new life. Together the King and Queen gave birth to the sky runners and the ocean dwellers, the Master and Mistress gave birth to the forest walkers and dark crawlers, and the Sir and Madame gave birth to ground thinkers and climate inhibitors.
The guardians stayed on their thrones for a millennium before they left the world to the decisions of their children. The King and Queen left seven of their children, dragons, to watch after the seven land continents. The Master and Mistress left their children, wolves, to keep order with the newer species being born from the original. The Sir and Madame left their children, the immortals, humans, winged-folk, and elves, to their own doing.
The dragons took off and watched the seven continents from high places. The wolves took off to journey from one country to another making sure everything was in order. The children of storm and ice soon went on their own ways. The immortals went into hiding, masquerading as humans. Humans conquered lands and soon they grew different traits to distinguish on kind from another. The wing-folk made their own country that allowed only a few outsiders in. The elves retreated to forest ground and are seldom seen in present day. The races that spawned from the intermingling left for their own country.
Soon the children forgot who their parents’ were. They no longer cared that they were once closely knitted together. They discriminated each other and stayed in their own realms, killing outsiders. The dragons’ roar rumbled through the ground, causing earthquakes. Wolves’ howls can be heard from places where there should not be wolves in, people disappearing. The children feared their ancestors. They waged war against their ancient cousins. The wolves and dragons only left enough alive to recreate what they lost. That was their warning.
The children of Storm and Ice still detest each other, but they will tolerate each other now. If one wanders into their territory, they must keep them alive unless they have other reasons not to. Now, in the present era, these differences are arising once again.
